Description

Update: this piece has been sold.

It had to happen at least once. This week I've received my commission from Mario Chavez, who I had following on Instagram for a while. I like his style and rendition of MJ & Black Cat. So I asked him for that - and he added Gwen at no cost and as a surprise.

All good, right? Now what happened, was that the piece was on its way for quite long. Around two months to get here. Aside from the $90 custom fee, the piece arrived wet; bent and with a weird colour stain near MJ's shoulder.

Per Mario's instructions, I'll contact USPS & the local delivery service, but it's kind of a bummer.

Doesn't bother me on the scan. It's on Black Cat's shoulder too, so you could just say it's directional lighting. The customs fee is unexpected sticker shock though. Chavez looks very talented and gives each a distinct look to show their personality.

You're right, although the scan definitely hides some of the defects and flattening is already helping a bit. And unfortunately, the customs fee is a regular and returning thing for European collectors when buying something from the UK & US.

Very much a shame about the postal damage. Mario does good work, I have several pieces by him - love hs style.
