Large and impressive 20x26" artboard w/matching size custom mat has pen and ink original art image area measuring 13x18". Art by EC Comics artist Johnny Craig (1926-2001) imagines what the cover to The Vault Of Horror #41 would have looked like, w/Craig drawing two decomposing ghouls dragging a screaming man into an open grave. The Vault Of Horror's last issue was #40, published in Dec. 1954 - Jan. 1955. This art was done in the 1970s and features title and publishing indicia all hand-done by Craig, as are the portraits of EC horror hosts The Vault-Keeper, The Crypt-Keeper and The Old Witch at left. Published comics usually utilized stats for these areas, making this piece all the more special. Craig has signed at lower right of image area. Bottom caption text is in Craig's hand as well. Some lt. margin aging as framed over the years, but art remains clean and Exc. Would make for stunning framed display and an absolute must for EC fans. This unpublished original art is slated to finally be published in the upcoming EC Covers Artist's Edition hardcover by IDW Publishing, scheduled for release in June, 2021.
