DescriptionMean, GREEN and everything in-between! I've been trying to get a Goblin by Mike since 2019. He wasn't taking commissions and truthfully, you need the luck of the Irish to land one during his art drops. Learning he'd be a guest at Terrificon basically sealed the deal. I WAS ATTENDING THIS CONVENTION."I-n-i-t-i-a-t-i-n-g --- S-e-q-u-e-n-c-e... Three.....Two............One.." **Doors Open** B'KSSHRRRHHSHSHSHH!!!! The jet engines on my sneakers were at full throttle. Mike McKone and Alex Saviuk were the only artists I went for and the time was finally here. After introducing myself and asking what he can do for me, I request a pen & ink sketch of Green Goblin (The $150 option - Ink Wash was $200). As he's writing my name and character, he gives off a pleasant grin and says - "Good choice." Man, did that make me feel good. I was already stoked ASKING him for a Green Goblin but knowing he liked the idea too was icing on the cake. You can tell a lot of people admire his work as well because despite getting there MINUTES after the doors opened, I was still the 7th name on his list! I returned about 5 hours later to check-in and he still hadn't started. He asked if I'd be there Saturday and after explaining that I'd be headed back home to NY later that day, he gave me a nod of assurance and said "Come back in about an hour." Welp, I gave him an hour and a half and when I came back, he saw me approaching and immediately pulled out the sketch. Honestly... thank goodness I was wearing a mask because that huge, goofy ass smile on my face was probably ugly as hell LOL He absolutely nailed it and to my surprise, it appeared he upgraded the sketch to ink wash! When I made that $150 cash payment during our initial contact, I noticed he had a donation cup on his table labeled "Hero Initiative" (..something like that & shame on me for not remembering).. Anyway, I handed him $160 and told him to put $10 in the cup. I'm not positive but I'd like to think that's why he upgraded my sketch. Either way, I was so grateful. Not only was the sketch KILLER - but it was just and awesome interaction from the very beginning. A very friendly guy and great artist. Glad I met him! Social/Sharing |

Big Score! The smile would be just as big under the mask.
