Description

Kevin Eastman drew this wonderful, unpublished variant cover to issue #6 from the first volume pairing the Turtles with the Dark Knight as they take on Shredder and Ra's Al Ghul. On his site when it was posted for sale, Kevin Eastman didn't label this cover as an unused one for #6 but it was easy to see that it was an earlier version of the published cover, which you can view as an additional image here.

I love the busyness on the page as Kevin has filled nearly every space with a character and action. Robin, Casey Jones, Shredder and Ra's were added to the final cover, but I prefer this version that has much larger images of Batman and Raphael up front taking on the Foot Clan goons.

Kevin told me he spent about 18 hours doing this page. Kevin's style is to use a rough and lightbox over it to flesh out the details. Kevin did 7 covers for the first Batman/TMNT series and as far as I know this unpublished version is the only one that has surfaced.
