MARVEL VOICES HERITAGE (2022) - DAVID MACK Pencils Prelim

Along with my Mack Psylocke piece that I got from SDCC 2022, I also picked up this cover prelim. It’s a really great piece showcasing a lot Indigenous and Native Marvel related art.

I grew up near the Hoopa territory in Northern CA and thought this was a solid piece to represent this side of my life. I especially love that I get Dani Moonstar (since I worked on the New Mutants movie) and Snow Guard in this piece. Snow Guard who first appeared in Champions #19 (Amka Aliyak, June 2018), is from a very little town on Baffin Island called Pangnirtung (Nunavut territory, near the Artic Circle). I happen to have had some amazing adventures there when I was working on JUSTICE LEAGUE movie where we needed to capture an environment background for the HISTORY OF THE WORLD section told by Wonder Woman.

I recall reading and enjoying this run on the Champions book and was absolutely thrilled to see this new character from a tiny town (of around 1500 people) I spent a lot of time in when doing Arctic adventures. I met some great people from the town that helped us hike through various territories on Baffin Island and showed us how to survive in harsh environments.

Mack art plus great characters that reminded me of wonderful movie adventures made this art piece a must have.

Sweet piece! In this pencil form, it's got even more of the energy that the eventual paints are trying to recapture.
