DescriptionBOOM!!!All the DPSs are epic and this one is no exception. It highlights Tradd's vision and mastery over multiple techniques, and the colored version is a great example of Dave Stewart's work, which is always fantastic - I highly recommend the treasury edition of SSB. This inversion, the Surfer being his own Alpha and Omega, makes for powerful imagery, and just wait until you see what's next... Social/Sharing |

Beautiful piece! I'm really digging what I see from his Surfer work, it's stunning. Reminiscent of Steranko, imo. Congrats on a big score!

Stunning! I've admired Tradd's work for some time, and now he seems to have found a subject that truly suits his style. Great pick-up!

Wow - the art reminds me of some other artists but still so unique - pretty cool!

This is likely my 2nd favorite piece from the entire run. I love the meta narrative here, the imposing Surfer figure, the Moebius style city. Just an incredible work of art. I was so bummed this wasn't used as the 2nd print cover.

So much to see in this piece and a great example of Tradd showing out in terms of all of his artistic skills! Got composition, stylization, intricacy throughout, and it's emotive! A winning image all around, M. Congrats!

I love his work in black and white (no offense to colorists)

SO stunning. So much texture on display, from the solid, imposing Surfer figure to the organic, flowing, trippiness of Zenn-La... One's brain kind of giggles as it processes all the stimulus. And if the textures themselves weren't enough, Tradd digs even deeper to add some real narrative weight by breaking through the set "borders" to add the 'viewing platform' in the lower left corner with our protagonists watching in horror on 'the day death came to Zenn-La'. By putting them in harm's way like that, it raises the stakes even higher. Magnificent work.
(Also, the flowing architecture of this spread really reminds of The Beatles' "Yellow Submarine"... I keep looking for Old Fred on here somewhere, warning everyone that the Meanies are coming... the caption COULD almost read: "The day death came to Pepperland"... :) ).

Uff-Dah!!!! Thats basically it right there for me. If you saw something like that in my house, you might find me under some dimly lit mood lighting. I might approach my museum quality frame whispering a famous Jerry Maguire quote to my artwork lol. Your choice to insert quote as many work in this situation. Then my wife would slap me in my face and say stop dreaming Ian. Seriously though, congrats to you!!!

Lol, I was thinking of two really famous ones, but this one would be hilarious as well.
