DescriptionI am a Ted head (a Teddy Roosevelt fan) and from time to time I will get TR commissions. This was done in 2019 and vastly exceeded my expectations. Matías really gave it his all, as he does on every project. The color choices are unconventional and really fantastic; observe how the brighter colors draw your eyes toward the central figure. Great composition and layering of background and foreground. The black leaves and branches help frame the scene. The log reminds me a funny line about Bigfoot from the Will Ferrell movie Anchorman. I don't think that was intentional but it makes me laugh.MB was in New York for a signing at Forbidden Planet, so I met him there to pick up the commission. He and his girlfriend were so cool. Who do I see there but Felix Lu, who was also picking up a commission from MB. Felix had just picked up Silver Surfer Black pages from Tradd Moore, and he let me look through the entire issue. I also met Tradd and he couldn't have been nicer. This was one of my favorite memories of this hobby. What a fantastic evening! Social/Sharing |

Great art! Here's the funny thing - your post was highlighted in the CAF Roundup email, and I saw the email on my phone. The image in the email, on my phone, was postage sized, and based off the colors and the composition I could have SWORN it was going to be DKR commission, with Teddy being Carrie and the ape/ bigfoot being Batman. I can't unmade un-see it now and it makes it, to me, all the better.

Haha - that's awesome - now I wish I got DKR but that was Felix's of course

Wonderful story behind this EXQUISITE piece - isn’t it great when an already breathtaking piece of art is enhanced by an experience that adds a whole ‘nother level to its appreciation and place in your heart? Man - this hobby is the best. :) I absolutely adore your Teddy Roosevelt commission theme, and boy howdy, does Matias deliver here. The color work is extraordinary, and one can easily get lost in it. Whatever you paid for it, you got a Square Deal!

My god I didn't see this piece yet from Matias... What a stunning piece!
Love the background story - as a European collector we rarely get signing or face-to-face time with artists.
God I miss cons...
