DescriptionGrail … graily grail grail! I never use that word but here I am! And here it is! The cover (and color guide acquired separately ) for the Thing 5 cover by Ron Wilson and Al Milgrom! Why you ask for a self proclaimed X-men fan was this piece of art so important?? Well when I was 8 years old I was given three comics on a road trip to keep me entertained… and this was one of them! Without this happening it is very possible that I’m not on CAF typing this or at all! Those comics sparked a life long infatuation with marvel comics and their characters!! So getting this piece is just about the Everest of comic art collecting for me! Way out of my comfort zone but well worth it! Thanks to a lot of my friends in the community for helping to make this happen or for listening to me stress over it while it was at auction lol..Social/Sharing |

There's auctions ringing in my ear
That always starts me bidding
There's a doubt hiding in my fears
Till The Thing starts up swinging
And my head starts to spin and to think
And my art is too tired to fail
But here we are in this slow boat
Wishing for a grail
There's a path that leads to NYC
Waiting to be traveled
There's a riddle that was Wilson on Spidey
Al has the inks unraveled
And She Hulk is tattered and torn
Worn down by Simon's wicked wail
And we here Wonder in this slow boat
Winning for a grail

The struggle depicted here of Jason overcoming obstacles to procure his grail is very apt! A thousand congrats on unlocking a very special level!

Phenomenal cover by Ron Wilson and Art Milgrom! I love this cover for so many reasons! It's a great image of the Thing being tightly tied up by Wonder Man using a steel street lamp! Then you've got She-Hulk pasting the Thing with a haymaker! I love the Thing's grimace as he shakes off She-Hulk's punch. Plus you've got Spider-Man arriving on the scene! Adds up to a winner of a cover--the best piece in the auction! I remember buying this comic off the newstand and thinking "There's no way the Thing's not gonna break free and turn the tables on his attackers!" Wonderul pick-up, Jason, I'm so glad you got it!

HUGE congrats, brother, I'm stoked for you that it happened! Cover OA to one of the first 3 comics that you got, and that were your gateway into a world you never left...can't beat it! And oh the art looks great :) Definitely one of those on the stands (or in the car!) that makes you want to open up the book right away to see what's up inside! Mission accomplished!

Geat cover! I love the Thing title from the 80's. I know the previous owned had a grail price on it so I'm glad you were able to add it to your impressive collection!

Jealousy is a good word to use here. This cover REALLY has it all. I don't appreciate my guy taking a beating but it does happen a lot so...
Thrilled you could add this to your collection and so happy to have been a part in some small way.

Seeing him beaten up is not really your Thing, is it?
