Description

I'm honored to own an original illustration by the master John Paul Leon. Sadly he was taken away from us all too early but his legacy will live on. I picked this up at auction shortly after his passing and had the benefit of the proceeds being donated to the PALtown charity that supports families battling cancer. 11x14 pencil and ink on Bristol board.

The head is so perfect and the rest of the piece is atmosphere inducing. Fueled by JP Leon's drive, this drawing takes a life of its own representing all the good it has done since being drawn.

It's amazing what JP could achieve with relatively simple blocks of black. I like how he mixed up the use of brushes in the background to imply the cityscape.

Obviously a very special piece in light of his passing. I like what could be seen as sadness on the Bat's face which seems to be echoing what we all felt.
