Description

This is the third time I've commissioned Shawn Crystal, and each time he surprises me. I thought Lone Wolf & Cub would be a perfect fit for his art style. I wasn't sure if I wanted a painted or ink piece this time around so I left it up to him. Those of you familiar with Shawn's work know that his painted pieces tend to be very colorful and "electric". Instead of sticking with his usual painted style, Shawn took a more reserved and tonal approach to this piece - which I think worked out perfectly for the subject!

I had the added pleasure of seeing him putting the finishing touches on this and to pick it up from him in person at OAX 2024. He's a great guy and I highly recommend getting a commission from him. Thanks, Shawn and Jason at Essential Sequential for putting this together!

Yeah, I went back a couple times to look at this one. Great line work but I LOVED the muted colors. Congrats on a great OAX pick up!

Was lucky enough to see this at OAX and it is fantastic! Huge congrats! I thought Shawn really knocked this one out of the park.

Shawn Crystal wasn't on my radar at all (I at least remember hearing his name around OAX), but his color work here is simply amazing. Love how he was able to get the pink highlights to not clash with the blue, and I bet it looks even better in person. Congrats on a great commission!
