Description

The first comic books I read (and in some way also collected), when I was a child, were Disney books. And namely the historic weekly magazine "Topolino" and the beautiful monthly paperbacks "I Classici di Walt Disney" and "I Grandi Classici Disney", with the best stories of the past from both American and Italian artists.
So, when I started collecting original art, one of my first goals was to own at least one piece by every Italian Disney master and, through the years, I was fortunate enough to find pages by Pier Lorenzo De Vita, G.B. Carpi, Romano Scarpa, Giorgio Cavazzano, Massimo De Vita, Luciano Bottaro and others... But nothing by Marco Rota.
Till now :)

This nice illustration was used as a frontispiece/title page for the story "Paperinika contro Paperinik", inside the beautiful (and huge!) hardcover book "Io Paperinik" (Mondadori, 1981).
Paperinika, Daisy Duck's superheroine alter-ego, was created in 1973 by Guido Martina and Giorgio Cavazzano.

a nice example of Rota Italian Disney work, inked with the brush... we know he definitely prefers inking with a nib (probably that's one of the reasons why at some point he chose to work for Egmont), just like Barks did :)
