DescriptionThis is the fourth cover Wrightson drew for Marvel in the fall of 1970; and that’s Wrightson himself, on it, in the shorts. (Is the striped-pants dude Archie Goodwin? Thanks, Ted!)Game over for me, I think; a la fellow collector Jeff Sharpe, I should just pack up my toys and go home. Thank you to Bechara and to a pair of fellow collectors and to the Comic Art Gods. Never did I think I’d own a cover, let alone a Wrightson cover. Social/Sharing |

Stellar piece from the man, the myth, the legend, Bernie Wrightson! His early stuff is still so amazing! Congrats on the score!

Wow man, that is a big, big score! I love the first couple of pro years of Berni, there's so much raw talent, humor and gumption.

Other than swamp thing, You would be hard-pressed to find a better early Wrightson cover than this. Perfect vintage. Perfect subject matter. Perfect execution. Congratulations.

ADEQUATE!!!
And when Mark saw the breadth of his collection, he wept, for there were no more worlds to conquer.
From here on out, you're pretty much your own competition!

Congrats on a wonderful Wrightson cover! I had to trade this to Bechara in order to get my Swamp Thing #4 cover, but it still hurts! I think it's a great Wrightson example and the first time Bernie drew himself into the cover. Again, congrats!

Congrats on landing a really top-tier Wrightson example! I know it involved some pain, but it must be a real treat to be able to look at this masterpiece every day.

I'm thinkin the other guy might be Archie Goodwin, but don't quote me on that.

It Comes From the Sew-ah! (A little Boston love). Dude, the pain was worth it. That is an incredible Wrightson cover. I'd keep collecting, because the pressure is off...you already won. Big congrats!
