DescriptionOverjoyed to add a sizzling piece by the great Michael Kaluta to the gallery - this is a big one for me!All the fine lines and fantastic, hypnotic details we all love in Michael’s work, constructed to imbue the spread with incredible, sweeping movement. I love the fact that the intense, swirling action flows with no panel borders here, underscoring the chaos at the very heart of the scene. The execution is beautiful, with everything working to lift and carry the reader’s eye lightly across the page in a “Z” pattern, despite the lack of panels to guide you. A master craftsman and storyteller is at work here. I hadn’t read this book before picking up this page; the images grabbed me and I just had to add it to my collection. Kaluta Matata, baby! Art for art’s sake, for the win. Thank you, Michael! Social/Sharing |

Didn't read the story but the art itself alone was striking, so you had to nab it! I mean, the visuals are really what it comes down to, right?! And not at all hard to see why you got it. Great flow and energy, mixed with Kaluta's killer line work. Awesome get, Jason. Congrats!

I don't think I've ever seen a more detailed Kaluta. The sleek look combined with his time-honored tropes is a wonder. And of course, the trademark soul and verve. He can really do it all... one of the last true OGs. Big gratz, baby!!

One, two, three
Turn it up
Big thrills double pagin'
Chaos you own fights the Satan
Swingin' shots go back and forth then
Inks like a tsunami once again and I think it's a win, yes
Well I heard Chaos one visits Zenn-La
Well I heard he's best all around
Well I hope his art we'll remember
Studio man draws and turns my world upside down
Sweet art Mike Kaluta
Where the lines are so true

Art is comin' home to you

Incredible, sweeping movement has been Kaluta Matata's de facto stock in trade for decades now. I love the whispy lines he always lays down, which serve to create all that seemingly windswept movement. I've never heard of this title, but like you say, art for art's sake, baby!

Huge fan of Kaluta. One of the 1st art books I bought when I was a kid (nineties) was The Studio. These guys were rock stars. Great piece!

Right on! You and me both, Wolvie Fan (but it sounds like I was probably a decade before you :) )! I had no money in high school, bought bought an extra copy and gave it to an artist friend of mine who I knew would love it. Still have my copy on a shelf of honor to this day, and I can't believe I have a piece by Michael. Three Studio creators to go...! Thanks for the great comments, Wolvie Fan and everyone!
