DescriptionOne of the jewels of my collection, purchased from Albert Moy probably in...the mid 90's I'm thinking? A grand example of Wally's spaceship design, with a couple of his trademark creatures running around. It was that face in the fourth panel that convinced me I needed this page in my collection. As a note, in the second panel, the man on the right is on a separate piece of paper. Wally cut out part of the page and glued the second piece of paper on the back, so that he could do some duoshade effects. Wally sketched a little Roman warrior on the back of the page, which I'll put in the additional images.Social/Sharing |

Prime period for Woody in my book. It's cliche to say, but he's at his peak here, exhibiting a heavy Eisner influence in the brush work (no doubt carried over from his exceptional run on the Outer Space Spirit).

I really think this period is his peak, too! Though he did go on to have several different high points, afterwards.

Deeply powerful with the imagery that inspired the imagination of many readers and their creativity. Each panel could be pulled out as its own illustration and carry the weight of a story in itself.

Oh wow! Blast from the past - one of the first Woody pages I owned - bought from Mitch about 1994. Very cool page!

Wow! That's cool! Neat to have an ownership trail. You must not have owned it long! I think it was maybe 95-ish that I bought it from Moy.

Beautifully crafted. Superbly rich linework, each brushstroke a labour of love.
