Description

Many thanks to my friend Vincent, for making another dream come true, One of the most beautiful illustrations that Phil did for "The Dark Tower".

I asked Phil a few days ago about this painting, and he answered me this:

Horacio...!
I do remember that one, probably the best of the illustrations
It was done for the endpapers -
I did the original Dark Tower in 1987 when I was really very young - and I was never happy with what I produced...I was experimenting with using more colour but what I produced was harsh and ugly
And the reproduction house sprayed the original with matt varnish to dampen reflections: insane

So - ten years later I re-did the whole book for free rather than have them re-release a new version with the old illustrations
These were so much better; done in my london studio so long ago (and yet ...doesnt feel impossibly distant)
