DescriptionA page from the first issue with the full team.I still remember the excitement about Whedon taking on the X-Men and how it did not disappoint, especially with Cassaday at the height of his artistic powers too. And then they brought back Colossus. Thanks Micah! Social/Sharing |

A page from the first issue? Fantastic! Seeing the full team together in Astonishing X-Men #1 was a thrilling moment all X-Men fans, especially with Cassaday’s cinematic storytelling and crisp, dynamic layouts. I think that for most X-Fans, it felt like Whedon’s run brought back that classic X-Men magic they hadn't felt in a long time, blending sharp dialogue with big, emotional moments, like the unforgettable return of Colossus. This page reminds us of just how exciting that era was, and how perfectly it set the tone for everything that followed. Congrats on the acquisition, Simon!

Nailed it. I hadn't been reading X-Men for years and this pulled me back and it was perfectly pure fun!

Wonderful page from the first issue. If Cassaday wasn't popular enough from Planetary and Captain America, this title shot him to the top with a booster rocket of Whedon and the X-Men. His redesigns and widescreen storytelling was just right for the Fox X-Men movie era!

Great page! I really like how you can see his process in sections, with effects like the white added later for some of the hair lines.
