Description

Tons of nostalgia here. I was really thrilled to get this page as it is a page from the first Avengers book I bought off the rack. At the time I was really disappointed with the art because I had gotten used to the previous 30 or so issues being predominantly Perez and Byrne. Now a wizened middle-aged man, I love Gene Colan. I like this page especially since it is what this issue's cover is based on.

You can say the same about all the Silver Age artists that kept working out of their prime era. As kids we just want the newest and shiniest. Only with some perspective, do we understand the foundations of how comics evolved over time and the importance of what has come before and what is classic.

Congrats on getting an important page to you. Colan was a productive art machine...love to see how inkers interpet his lush detailed pencils.
