Description

I have to admit that I got this Superman page mostly for the Batman focus. This is great early work from John Paul Leon in this issue, a Year One storyline, where Super and Bats are discussing the villain Magpie and Batman lays out his own personal motivations. Even this early, JPL was using a lot of shadow work creatively, especially seen in his backgrounds here.

With a gargoyle and old Victorian rooftops, it is Batman's home turf by default. The John Paul Leon lines and shadow create a perfect playground for Batman to dominate the page's visuals.

Wonderful - JP's career began just as I left comics and I missed so, so much. The small consolation is that I can discover his pieces like treasures. Congrats!

Since I often buy pieces with Batman in them.. just for the other characters on the page - I totally believe that there people out there who do the opposite😅😁. Having said that.. this page is all about the Batman and it ain't half bad anyway!😉 Congrats Pat!!
