DescriptionJenny Finn #3 cover by Mike Mignola 1999. My first, and at the moment only, piece of original comic art. I love Mignolas art and this piece has a lot of the elements you would want in a Mignola piece. At the bottom of the original Mignola writes “The End” where the title logo would be printed on the publish comic. This was the third book in a four book series, so it wasn’t that it was the end of the story (or is it, lol). Any insight would be greatly appreciated! I’m pretty new to collecting original comic art and any help would mean the world to me. Thanks in advance!Social/Sharing |

If you're going to have one piece of art, can't go wrong with a Mignola! Thanks for sharing! Really great piece!

Agreed, I'm happy to have it!!!! I spent all of my allowance on this piece so it will be an only child for a little while.

Very true! What's cool about this cover too is that in the story line, there is a Jack the Ripper like villain and it ends up being the painter on this cover. So this piece has some more significance, if your a fan of Jenny Finn storyline.

Thanks! I tried very hard to get almost anyone of Mignolas quarantine sketches from eBay, but was always bidding up to the last second and still losing. I'm happy in the long run that I wasn't able to land one of those sketches, I wouldn't have been able to afford this piece if I spent the money on a sketch. All's well that ends well!

I love that Mike's artist character in this piece only vaguely resembles the shape of a human. Mostly just a lump with a head on top and bushy beard/hair, but it all just works. If you see where Mike started and the evolution of his style over the course of his career it's been a gradual deconstruction of form. This piece-- although not a prime example perhaps-- just goes to show how far Mike has come (or is it gone?) in deconstructing form until it mashes together in a way that pleases his eye. TBH Jenny Finn wasn't really my cup of tea as far as story, nor has the art held up IMHO, but Mike's contribution to covers (and obviously this TBH cover) are its strongest elements. Great cover!

Mike is definitely a master at deconstructing a subject matter into forms that are pleasant to the eye. That is definitely a skill that is not easy to master. Thanks for your insight!

Terrific start to a comic art collection! A beautiful page by a true comic master, Mike Mignola. You already show great taste with just one selection! I can't wait to see what you pick up next!

Thanks so much for the compliment. I am doing my best to save for my next piece, but everything I really want is of course more than I can afford. I hope to one day have a collection that is half as good as yours!!!!
