Description

This is a lot of three penciled sketches by George Tuska, all for one great price. (See photos for condition.) Postage is included - US buyers only. Payment by PayPal F&F. I obtained them all directly from George and will provide a COA if desired. Included are the following:

- First is an 8.5 x 11 inch paper featuring two preliminary drawings of characters from the Buck Rogers newspaper strip. George loved doing the strip and the characters were a favorite of his to draw for commissions. I have seen several Buck Rogers commissions featuring similar poses. There are a number of marks on the page and George signed his first name in red ink. The back of the page features a rough drawing of a woman. Note that the paper is light yellow in color - it is not faded. Great examples of George's passion for science fiction.

- Second are preliminary sketches of Iron Man and the Green Goblin by George. They were presumably done in preparation for a commission drawing. They are drawn on lightweight tracing paper measuring 9 x 12 inches. Sometimes, in order to reuse the same image more than once, George would do the preliminary sketch and then turn it over and rub the back of the page with pencil or crayon. Then he would trace over the original sketch, transferring the image to a new sheet of paper on which he could then add additional details. This is a great example of that technique.

- And third is a preliminary penciled drawing of two figures on one 8.5 x 11 inch page by George. These were done for two different commission drawings. I believe the top drawing is a prelim of Superman. I have seen finished commission drawings of Superman by Tuska in a similar pose, staring down a missle in mid-flight. The bottom drawing may be of Nick Fury. I recall seeing a finished commission with Fury in a similar pose. They both provide a wonderful insight into the creative process, signed by the artist.
