DescriptionIn the 1940s, Bill Dyer took over the Patsy comic strip, bringing a new look stylistically to the feature. From the 1950s until his passing, Dyer drew for the Knoxville News-Sentinel. Dyer drew a number of features, but his Whatta Life! ran every Sunday in the paper, featuring Dyer’s little observations about life. In this case, Dyer comments on civic-minded trick-or-treaters. This large page is undated, but Dyer’s bigfoot approach has a ton of charm, in a George-Lichty-sorta-way. Dyer handles the ink pretty expressively, as well as the White-Out, adding to the charm of the work. The artwork measures 25½”x 16” and is in nice condition, with a couple of clean paste-overs, and a bit of the White-Out not as strong as it used to me. A sweet example of cartooning. $50.00 + 20.00 Priority shipping, due to the large size.Social/Sharing |
