�� Alina Chau volunteered for the Cartoon Art Museum Sketchathon online opportunity. I relished the chance to make a request. I paid for two pieces to make the mailing situation easier and save shipping materials. I loved Alina�s painted artwork for her graphic novel Marshmallow & Jordan published by First Second Books in 2021. Set in Indonesia, Jordan was the star basketball player for her school team, but became paralyzed below the waist and gets around in a wheelchair. She meets a baby white elephant, brings him home, and names him Marshmallow. Alina sent this concept art piece depicting best friends Lynn and Jordan before the accident. I love the expressions and poses. Marshmallow appears in the upper right and left bottom corner, but my scanning skills failed to capture the light blue pencil and watercolor. This is one of three pieces I received in the mail.
