PHALANX Saga - LIFE SIGNS pt 1

A page with a “BAMF” is all I needs, but this beautiful page features so much more. It features the beautiful combo work of Duursema and Milgrom with the intricate detail and design on the Phalanx, Professor X using his powers and Nightcrawler BAMFing around.

I really enjoyed the PHALANX Saga, both in comics (see my page where it all started with UCX #312) and in animation (see my Magneto/Warlock/Beast cel). It’s was at the time prime era collecting and reading for this X-Title crossover. It brought in some great storylines, especially the work Scott Lobdell was able to tell. I got to meet him at this past comic con (2022) and express to him how much his storytelling across many X books shaped a lot of my youth. Some of my favorite works, like Unlimited X-Men #4 came from him. It’s often that I am now revisiting work that is most nostalgic from my youth and see that it’s something he was deeply involved in.

This page is a prime example of action in midst storytelling and sacrifice, as the leader of the X-Men pushes Nightcrawler forward and urges him to leave him as he can defend himself against this formidable foe.

This story brought me back to the X-books after a little bit of time away. Cool Nightcrawler action page by Duursema.

Killer action scene storytelling! Frenetic goodness and the Phalanx definitely lend themselves to that. Sweet shots of Kurt, too, with a BAMF - can't beat that with Kurt pages :) Congrats!

So much to like about this page. Full figure action Nightcrawler and Professor X, as well as being Duursema's pencils on the Phalanx crossover. Congrats!

Love the action in this and Duursema dosen't seem to get the attention she should ! I have about 4 pieces by her that I think are exceptional,congrats !
