DescriptionPSYLOCKE #6 ALEX MALEEV Variant CoverHad to have wall power cover! When I saw it on the comic racks as a variant cover, it was a must have. I almost immediately looked up the artist to see if this was something that existed in the physical art community. I was thrilled to see it for sale at MGA (MORE GREAT ART). Soon as I got it, I had it professionally framed and this is one of my first proper original art pieces that now hangs on the wall. Psylocke is my go to character and love her sordid history, this piece showcases her deadly fierceness as Kwannon/Psylocke warrior. I don’t fully love the current series, it’s ok, but could be about any character. I feel like it touches on some of Kwannon’s back story, but is making her feel more like a young girl that has grown up in the RED ROOM like Natasha or Yelena. But have only read the first few issues. I look forward to seeing how the series develops and becomes a unique specifically Psylocke/Kwannon story. Especially hoping that this issue #6 is a solid story and some great art inside. Maleev’s art is absolutely gorgeous and look forward to seeing more work from him. His color tones and choices, along with the splattered color patches and choice of white haunted eyes really sold me on this piece. I especially love the rested position of Psylocke, seated in her throne with sword in hand flowing with her energy. It’s a Killer Queen that demands respect. This cover also is likely an homage to an earlier piece he did in 2003 for Daredevil #50 (see in additional images). Proud to have added something like this to my collection, but even more so to my wall at home. Social/Sharing |

If you didn't say it was Psylocke, I would have guessed this was a Star Wars piece with someone holding a lightsaber. Love the bright crackle of the sword against the dark blues. It sets a great mood.

There's no doubt who's the boss! There you have it, Maleev paints the new leader of Crimson Dawn!

The Star Wars references have already been made for me above ha but this is a dark yet vibrant at the same time painted cover piece by Maleev that demands to be looked at! Def has wall power magic, and that fully decked out frame job looks fantastic. Congrats and enjoy it on the wall for years to come!

Alex Maleev was good out of the gate, but he nevertheless keeps getting better and better. This is a gorgeous piece!

I am going to give myself a little credit. Alex and I were brainstorming and we came up with the concept during a training session. Happy it found a home.

This is glorious and evoks Maleevs previous works with Punisher resting among his enemies/victims. The glow on the sword achieved is extremely striking.

Love this semi spin on the DD #50 cover, if I remember right. Same pose, but totally different in terms of character, colors, vibe...same but not! LOVE that. Congrats, man!

Wow, you are spot on, an homage to an earlier piece he did in 2003 - DD#50. I added the homage info to the description and an image of it. Love that you know your DD so well to hit it perfectly. Thanks K!!
