Description

Sheldon “ Shelly” Moldoff is one of those distinctly classic artists who was one of Bob Kane’s most prominent “ghost artists” on Batman comics in the 1950s and early 1960s. Moldoff’ Inkpot Award and peer admiration cement him as one of the classic DC artists of the Golden Age! The multiple characters featured in this artwork make this one a special piece for me with Batman, Robin, the original Batwoman (Kathy “Kate” Kane) vs. classic villains Penguin, Catwoman, Two-Face, Joker and modern villainess Harley Quin! The art is in ink and color marker. Image size of 16.75” x 13.5”

I have not seen another version of this and he would have had them done on the larger size so he can fit them on easier. Maybe he thought it would be too much work to keep using this image at his age.

Wow! What a fabulous piece! I love Moldoff's style--It captures the essence of a whole different time and place!

Thanks for the kind comments Bill! I walked by Moldoff's both at the SDCC for years and never pulled the trigger on a piece. Glad to finally add onpe to the collection!

I loved Shelly's at on Hawkman imitating Alex Raymond. I've always wondered how he felt drawing in this style for so many years. This is a nice Batman piece, congrats on a great pickup.
