Description

A piece of childhood. The art is taken from Fantastic Four #311 (page 19): the second issue in which the 'spiked' Thing appears. Ben and Sharon Ventura (the female Thing) received an extra dose of cosmic rays and came out transformed.
Now they face a Wakanda android guard who absorbs the kinetic power of their terrible blows. These are stories that appear naive, if read today, but the power of Pollard, combined with the solid inks of Sinnott, seemed irresistible to me. The eighties pieces are now sought after and remind me of the comics I read as a child. The board is signed on the back by the inker Joe Sinnott, a true master of Marvel Comics!

Pollard is a favorite for Spidey and FF fans for this era! I love these issues as well with Englehart writing. The Sinnott inks add to the continuity of the bold action adventure feel of the book. Full fledged teamwork making some of the best comics of the day.

I first read that as spiked thong. Heh. Yeowtch! Pollard FF is right in my nostalgia wheelhouse. I had a mail subscription to this run. And what a cool page by two of marvels greats. There's not much better for my comic dollar, then seeing Ben punch out baddies. Sweet score. Congrats!
