DescriptionThere was a big auction coming up, with a fantastic Sandman piece. But I sat on my hands, and decided to spend the money on art that was not going up in price as I was deciding to buy it. Albert had this beauty on his site, and while pricey, it started to look more and more attractive. Finally, I decided to go with the fish in the hand. Here we particularly have a fantastic example of what made Sandman THE SANDMAN, which of course is Gaiman's tremendous vision and lyrical writing. Gaiman and Klein are strongly represented here, at the beginning of an incredible journey. I was always horror-fascinated with the predicament of the sleepers, and love seeing them represented here. Unity, of course, is a thread that continues to run through the Sandman Universe, and this is a nice early example. I'm also pleased with the last panel - the 'fisheye' POV putting us into the Dream King's captivity. Imagine looking at these guys for 70 years?!? Thanks for looking! P.S. VERY interesting liner notes - make the house ad even more valuable, I think... Social/Sharing |

I always love seeing you add a new Sandman page - and it's hard to beat a page from #1.

The winds that propel the economic current also help to pull up deep, cold, nutrient-rich collections that will draw out pieces for a more favorable fish catch.

Wow i didnt think you collected Sandman!!?? ;-) LOL
Dude - congrats - you made the right call IMHO re: what was in front of you vs what was at auction. But either way this is a stellar addition to your amazing collection, Sandman is the tops.

Congratulations man! It was pricey indeed, but damn, any page from the first issue of this series is a worthy acquisition for any fan.

Interesting dilemma but probably the right move. Besides, what's to regret when you end up with a(nother) historic #1 page? Congrats.

Sam Keith's Wrightsonesque art gives the page a classic House of Mystery vibe (albeit one with Gaiman's updated take on the horror genre). Cheers!
