Description

ALERT - if you own the cover to this issue, hit me up, would love to make you an offer on it.

This one's a bit dark and it's awesome:

Panel 1 - Brooding Spidey looks like a gargoyle.... "ah nuts"
Panl 2, 3, 4 - A NY cop yells up at Spidey that folks down on the street could have been hurt.

Panel 5 - more brooding, dark Spidey

Panel 6 - Really nice Buscema Spidey side-profile with Spidey-sense a tingling.

This is a great self contained page that works without any context.  Sal spins this often used theme of Spidey being unappreciated and made to look like a villain with great renderings of Spider-Man.  The body language is one of defeat in the first panel, letting his body curl up in a ball while his arms cannot be used to affect anything.  The shadows used in panel 5 show his anger at the injustice that he is blamed for trying to help.  But come around to the next panel as Spidey is ever willing to jump back into action and let go of frustration to once again be a hero the city needs.

You can clearly see Sal's artistic style developing on the pages of SSM. I love the harder lines, more angular look of Spidey on this page, especially with him doing his own inks. Another great page, might have to start calling you BuSpidey Fan

This page really stands out, even as a thumbnail. The clarity of the last panel vs the intensity of the first is just great.

As you said, I love Spidey in that gargoyle pose. Sal knew what he was doing. And what a great moment, with Spidey being persecuted, as he was. Hero or menace? Hero, of course, unless you're talking to JJJ, or random anti-vigilante characters. Super sweet score. Big congrats!

Sal penciled two issues of SW (#93 and #102), so I'm holding out. But, if I ever change my approach and go non-SW, this would be a great Buscema representative Spidey page. Nice one!

Sweet page all around but I absolutely love that crouching pose in brooding panel 1!  Makes the page!  Congrats!
