more of that clean line art styling from nick derington. love it. love seeing the "underdrawing" before the inks go down.

love how each of our main heroes and villains get an individual panel expressing their shock, horror, determination and delight in what has transpired when you place the dead citizens of the bottle city of kandor into a lazarus pit. it's not going to be pretty what's about to happen.

Absolutely stunning execution on this amazing spread, Ken! Nick's work is always a treat to see (especially for the "underpinnings", as you say) and you get a great example of his range here, from lightly finished, horrifying top spread to heavy black, still horrifying bottom panels. :) And the reverse symmetry of the bottom tier seals the deal for me: just as the Lazarus Pit's "rebirth" is a dark reflection of life and the natural way of things, laying out the panels to show Superman, pit denizens, Batman - and then mirror that with Ra's, pit denizens, and Zod is just under-the-top (not 'over-the-top' because, y'know, it's on the bottom :) ). Awesome pick up, Ken - congrats!
