Description"DOOMSDAY... IS HE... IS HE..."BUT IT'S TOO LATE. FOR THIS IS THE DAY-- --THAT A SUPERMAN DIED. There is no more memorable image from the Earth-shattering event than that of Lois cradling the lifeless body of the world's greatest hero -- and the love of her life -- with his tattered cape bearing the iconic symbol of the Man of Steel in the background, after facing Doomsday, the Kryptonian killing machine. When DC revealed that they planned to kill Superman, word spread worldwide and the event fostered unprecedented news coverage, causing Superman #75 to smash sales records. This cover was created for the collected edition, which is one of the bestselling trade paperbacks of all time. Appears wider here than the published cover. Social/Sharing |

Iconic. What more is there to say?
Not much, because I was about to say the same thing. LOL.

Great pickup, Disnesh! This represents the comic that brought me back to comics after a hiatus in elementary and middle school because... Nintendo. After this book I gave up video games and baseball cards and became a closested comic book nerd all thru hs. I wish this was the regular cover. Imagine opening the black bag and pulling this out?

Whats she crying about? We all knew at the time it was a comics selling racket. 'Is it a bird? Is it a plane? Is it a super racket? No, its Superman. Hes alive!' Apart from all that its great.

Very nice cover! Not often you see Supes so bloodied. I also love how the tattered cape almost takes on a surrender flag trope. Nice pickup.

Beautiful piece that combines the most memorable elements of the event to become a single iconic image to come out of the storyline.

Perhaps one of the most iconic pieces of art around, this is up there with X-Men #1 (both 1963 and 1991), Spider-Man in Black Suit and Dark Knight cover. I remember getting this TPB before I ever got any single issues at PRICE CLUB the precursor to COSTCO. It was one of the most eye catching covers that I had no idea how much of a comic adventure it would put me on and a lifetime of collecting and reading comics; which led me into a career into making comic book movies, specifically doing a variation on this very iconic scene on set for BATMAN V SUPERMAN. Huge congrats doesn't say it enough!
