DescriptionIt should be titled 'Cult of Dell'Otto'...When I started collecting artwork and browsing some of the collections here on CAF, the Dell'Otto pieces always jumped out at me. Other than Secret Wars I hadn't really seen any of his splashes or covers, and it is an on-going process of having my mind blown as I continue to discover these masterpieces. And that's where the cult part comes in. There is a shocking amount of Dell'Otto work concentrated in some very few, astute hands. It's really astonishing. As I started getting deeper in, I knew I was looking for a particular piece for my own collection. There are a few pieces out there for sale, and I was sorely tempted by one of the DKIII covers, but I decided to wait. A fellow collector gave me David's email address and I was able to get on 'the list'. This piece dropped at a bad time for me financially, but it was everything I wanted and more, and David was fantastic about working with me on terms. Many thanks! Enough rambling, take in the work. The play of light is perfect. Different parts of it are accentuated as the light changes. In the photographs the fire is rightly the star of the show, but don't miss the exquisite work around the tongue in the cooler spectrum of color. Another bonus - as you can see the image was painted without the demon heads underfoot - those were added at the request of Marvel. So GD'O painted the additional images separately and photoshopped that into the original image. David and Gabriele were kind enough to include the flame images in the parcel too. It's not a thrown together addition either, there is a lot of detail and depth amongst the heads and the other debris to create a feeling of being under Venom. Have a great weekend. ZAGOR! This is so awesome! A perfect pose. What I love most is the use of the fire at the bottom adding a great lighting effect that provides so many colors - great stuff! Sincere congrats on getting your Dell'Otto - right choice for sure!

Wow. The fire, the lightling/shading, that raging primal scream of a pose, the detail... I love everything about this. Your patience in waiting for the "right" Dell'Otto piece sure was well rewarded! This might be the best looking Venom cover I've ever seen.
Having recently gone down the "Cult of Dell'Otto" rabbit hole myself, I am no longer surprised by my quick declarations of new favorites. My stance is quickly becoming: "That Dell'Otto piece is the best [insert character name here] cover that I have ever seen!" I used to only think of Alex Ross in that way but have since drank the Kool-Aid and look forward to seconds.
