Description

so this is it. This is piece #1 for me. I bought this on eBay and I can still feel that vibe of shock. When I became aware that original comic book art was available for purchase. Before this I was buying pro wrestling autographs and since this piece I haven't bought another autograph. This piece is 12 × 18 instead of the usual 11 × 17 and it has a forever home.

Why not both?  You can still live the kayfabe life as Super Heroes come in all forms.  This is a great page though as the bottom panels getting that small logo in the middle is a great design touch like how Rey Mysterio often uses Super Hero costumes as a template for his ring gear.

First thing I would like to say is Thank You, for all of your kind words. I really do see, get inspired by, and try to follow suit the amount of Joy you bring to this community. I'm from San Diego so Rey Mysterio is our hometown hero and I have actually been fortunate enough to meet him a few times. When it comes to pro wrestling autographs I have them all. From Macho Man to John Cena. From both Road Warriors to The Rock. I was at the point where I was actively hunting a Andre the Giant and both British Bulldogs. The sad part is I do nothing with them. All of my autographs sit in a folder inside a backpack that is in my office closet.

I'm trying to get as many of them all only in the WWE encyclopedia.  I have the new ones without entries sign on the end pages.  To me, it is like collecting sketches in a sketchbook.  They take money, effort, time and patience.  It is just part of the journey of being a fan.  The same kind of journey seeing some long time wrestlers' saga pay off finally reaching the mountaintop.  It's the same for artists you collect from the beginning and seeing them reach the top.  Maybe your wrestling fandom has waned, but there should be plenty of fans on the Internet who still enjoy and recognize seeing excellence of any kind.

You can achieve this during wrestlemania weekend. There is a reason why the wwe puts on their annual event during tax return season. Also during wrestlemania weekend is an event called wrestle con. Where loads of indie and former big league talent do autographs and photos. Wwe always does a meet and greet at the same time with current and former talent. Unfortunately wwe will always be 4 to 5x more expensive. 10x more for the top talent like Shawn Michaels, HHH, and Undertaker. Luckily i already have their autographs. Also there is this jewish guy named Ed something. Who is an agent of a ton of former wwe talent and if i still had his contact information still I would send it your way. Ed is an easy dude to work with and for a flat fee. You could have probably mailed your book to him and he would have had his roster sign it and he would have mailed it back.

Been to Wrestlecon for Mania 31.  The official WWE ones sell out fast for Mania week.   I've been getting them through local indies when alumni do a guest spot and at SDCC Mattel booth signings through the years.  Of course paused for now.

Back to comic art though, it took about 8 years to fill a sketchbook, all at shows and never through the Mail.

I loved the Over the Edge comics and this is a great example of Robert Brown's terrific artwork. What a great way to start your art collecting!

The Devil that dares!  Nice piece!  It reminds me of McFarlane's work!

Great story about buying your first art piece. It's crazy but my first art purchase was a page from Over the Edge also. Issue 1 page 19. I was fortunate enough to buy it directly from Robert Brown in the mid 90's at a mall in Rome Ga. Anyway its a great piece! Nice!
