Description

I came across this piece while thumbing through the portfolio which Alex brought to Lake Como Comic Art Festival. The conversation was something like:

"Tell me about this."

"It's Sandman and Desire. My wife was the model for Desire."

(After looking through the whole portfolio) "I'd like this one."

"You... want to buy my wife?"

"No way! I already have a wife, and she lets me come to Lake Como!"

What I do want is art that reflects the heart of the artist, and what is closer to our hearts than our family? It seems to me from the additional image that Sandman bears more than a passing resemblance to Maleev himself, making this a family portrait. It's a lovely piece I was happy to get.
