DescriptionThe Secret Origin of The Creeper by the amazing Keith Giffen. We lost Keith Giffen last month at the age of 70. He would have turned 71 at the end of November. I am a huge fan of Keith Giffen, to say I was sad is an understatement. He is easily one of my favorite creators, Mount Rushmore status for sure. I first saw Keith's work on the Legion of Super-Heroes (5ylater) the art was weird, bold and it had great use of blacks. His ever evolving art was awesome to see. I was a fan of all his various styles. Then there was his writing, funny, fresh and smart with a wicked (dark) sense of humor. If a comic was by Giffen I bought it and most likely enjoyed it. I read Ambush bug, loved it, same with the Justice League, Dr. Fate, The Heckler (my favorite), Vext (yes I read Vext, it was a funny book), Lobo, Ragman and Trencher. I will be celebrating Giffen's life in comics all month with Giffen art. Starting with this cool Creeper title splash. Creeper in full silhouette and next to him, a signature Giffen shadowy figure. A great opening page! Who is he? Where did he come from? How did he come to be? Attention grabbing title/credits page! Love the silhouetted figure containing the question about to be answered.

This page is SO Keith Giffen. Giffen always walked the edge with his work. No one was ever really sure whether or not he was taking a p*ss.
Awesome.

A wonderful Creeper splash! To me, it evokes Steve Ditko's work while still being uniquely Giffen, which is great!

In silhouette form, all distorted in shadow, the Creeper is made even more mysterious by Giffen. You really didn't even need to have the Creeper's logo with his unique acrobatic pose and distinct Ditko design!
