Description

I had the opportunity to join the Merry Manix Marching Society at NYCC this year. His pieces always have a lot of characterization, humor, detail, and, of course, gorgeous colors. I didn't even realize he was going to be at NYCC, but when I saw him in artist's alley I had to ask if he had room on his list.

I think he did a great job with Lilandra, and her armor and cape look fantastic. Also, was glad that he included the Escher-esque fractal base for her, he often employs those designs and I was glad he worked it into my piece as I've admired it in others. Also, always love space backgrounds and imagery so was pleased when they were included and gave him an opportunity to include some of his signature day-glo effects.

I have a cover homage in mind for him, so will be planning to get another Manix in the future. He and Jiggy were both very warm and friendly and, while most of all glad to have the piece in my collection, it was great to be able to get it in person.

The best pure character depictions by Manix will bring the personality out through body language and facial expression even with the disadvantage of missing the nose.

Wow, congrats on your first - and hopefully not last - Manix piece!! I love how proud and powerful her pose is, even with Manix's cartoony style. And the multicoloured stars in the spacescape really tie everything together!
