Description

While I know that the space-faring adventures are maybe the least beloved X-Men genre motifs, I always had a soft spot for them, particularly the early Cockrum issues and the Jim Lee penciled UXM 275-277. I also like seeing Charles get to have a love interest, and I am an unabashed Xavier fan. I mention all of the time in these descriptions that Classic X-Men was my intro to comics, Marvel, and X-Men. I especially loved the Bolton drawn Lilandra appearances.

My most favorite comic artist of all is Arthur Adams, and I cannot recall seeing Arthur's take on Lilandra. I've thrown her name on his convention request list a couple of times, and was lucky enough to have Arthur select her at C2E2 this year. I think Arthur did an excellent job, I was curious if he'd choose armored or feather hair, I'd have been happy either way, and I like how he captured her helmet, her facial markings and of course Arthur draws eyes like no one else and I love the feathered looking eyelashes that's perfect for the Shi'ar Empress. Thank you so much, Arthur!

It's great how Adams picks and chooses where to add the cross hatching to sell the odd shapes of Lilandra's alien royal headdress!
