I have been a fan of Ben Harvey's amazing cover work for a couple of years. It's exciting to see a talent on the rise and leveling up. I enjoyed the Legion of X covers that were my first exposure to Ben, but I think this year has been really impressive with his work on Avengers West Coast and One World Under Doom.

I'd seen some really great Magik pieces he had done on colored board and knew that was what I would ask for, I sent him three suggestions, Bearded Mr Fantastic, 1993 costume Invisible Woman, or Outback Psylocke. He said he would prefer Mr. Fantastic of the 3, I assume he must get mostly female character requests (with the exception Dr. Doom of course). I was more than happy with that selection.

This was completed via pencil, ink, copic markers, prisma color pencils, and dr martin's white ink. Another thing I'll say is that I don't think you always get the same style or the same level of excellence from a primarily digital artist when you ask them to do a traditional commission, this is not the case with Ben he's incredibly adept with both sets of tools.

I absolutely love it, and am grateful to have gotten on Ben's list for the Hershey Comic Con. The more time I've gotten to spend with it the more I've appreciated the shade and toning of Reed's face. When I showed it to her my wife asked if I was going to frame this one, which I can tell you she doesn't always ask, and is a form of high praise!

I always argue for a beard on Reed Richards since he's always working in the lab and doesn't have time to shave
