Description

Olivier Coipel - Silver Surfer Pin up and character study done circa 2006. You don't see completed pencil work from Olivier too often and I must say I love his take on this classic character!

This pin-up and study was done on 11 x 17 Marvel board. The full board includes the nice large pin-up with some additional preliminary sketches.

Thanks to Chris S. for informing me this piece was used for WizKids HeroClix Marvel Supernova Booster Pack packaging/box art, released in 2006.

I recently learned this art was used for the Wizard World Texas HeroClix Nov 10-12, 2006 invitational series prize packaging/box artwork!

Fantastic, George! I was so glad to hear that Olivier would be returning to Thor, and it was fortuitous that you could snag such a wonderful example of his fine pencil work, as I'm sure his star is only going to keep rising.

I think this was used for a HeroClix package. Phenomenal piece and nicely foreshadows his current run on Thor.

Chris, thanks so much for the heads up! I found a picture online of the heroclix box! And I agree, this was the perfect wind-up to his work on the Mighty Thor. Such a talent!
