Description

So, the next page in the Lightle Flash story.

A nice 6 even panels grid with parallel stories going side by side.

The best point for me is how the first row on both sides is about setting up the action with an above camera shot to establish it all. Clearly, these are the panels that took Lightle the longest to draw while they are the ones the reader will go over the quickest. The first panel is also drawn with a slightly tilted angle which, again, was probably not the easiest choice and yet Lightle pulls it off seemingly effortlessly.

The second one was probably the most time consuming of them all, if only for that GREAT snowstorm effect whose direction guides the reader’s eye. This one reminds me of those great classical strips.

Then we go from establishing shots to mid-level ones as the camera closes in. On the left, I love Flash’s body language as he awkwardly trying to describe his recent strange experience that his friend is having a hard time believing. You can just tell from the art that Wally knows how farfetched he sounds. Walton does the same on the right side of the page.

For the last row, we close in on our characters as Flash continues explaining his experience, still uneasy, as does Walton.

Lastly, let’s notice that the left side is mostly bright whereas the right one is dominated by shadows, inside and outside the tent. Another way of Lightle showing off his mastery at composing a simple page and all the thought that went in it.

Sheesh Fred! Id offer up some analysis of what makes the art on this page great but Id just be regurgitating your description, works for me! Excellent 6 panel page with that alternating perspectives of storytelling that weaves perfectly with the written dialogue. The art on the 2nd panel is my fav here, excellent snowy storm effect! 👌🏾

Clever layout in Lightle's storytelling by splitting the columns to go back and forth.  It can be read that way or by just reading down each column uninterrupted.

What I like best about this page is the storytelling technique that allows the reader to read the page either in the standard left to right, top to bottom format, or top to bottom for the left side panels, then top to bottom on the right side panels.
