DescriptionBeautiful Our Gang / Little Rascals illustration that Drew did in a series for Franklin Mint Collectors Plates in the 1990’s. This one’s called Sooper Slooth and shows Alfalfa, Buckwheat & Spanky in the 1938 classic “Hide and Shriek” (the 168th Our Gang movie…also notable for being the last movie that had Hal Roach as producer. The (round) artwork has a diameter of 43cm on 76cm x 76cm artboard…Drew’s copyright notice on the back states that this was finished May 12th 1996…This was also published as a full page image in the “Oeuvre” (2008) Drew Struzan book… Social/Sharing |

Great likenesses for Buckwheat, Alfalfa and Spanky ! ! ! Given that the Our Gang / The Little Rascals were filmed in black and white so Struzan probably had to do his best to create a color design. But everything looks some clean compare to how dingy things looked on the screen !! A lot of the dialog and stories would not go over these days but they are icons for a few generations.
