Description

Visionary artist Sam Kieth always brings a unique approach to whatever he works on and that was certainly the case with 2002's Marvel Knights series Wolverine/Hulk. A plane Logan is flying crashes and he ends up in a frozen wasteland with a little girl named Po and an angry Hulk. On the offered page from issue #2 of the series, Wolverine and the Hulk prepare to come to blows while a worried Po hangs onto Wolverine tightly. Kieth's abstract illustrations are a beauty to behold and a nice change from the way the characters are typically depicted.

Wolverine and the Hulk have a long connection going back to Wolverine's first appearance in Incredible Hulk #180 and #181 (1974). They are two of Marvel's most popular and toughest characters and the mini-series featuring this page gave fans an opportunity to see them together again.

Sam Kieth is best known as the acclaimed creator/artist of The Maxx as well as the famous early issues of Neil Gaiman's historic series The Sandman. Kieth penciled the first five issues, the "Preludes & Nocturnes" story arc.

I love how the bottom border in the first panel is basically the shape of an unhappy Hulk's mouth that extends over to the next panel.

I can't tell you how much I love this guys unique take on all the characters he draws ! As artists we all strive to be like this but alot of us just don't have the vision as Kieth does !
