DescriptionCollectors speculate about the importance of movies to the desirability of OA. I am particularly fond of Groot. Yes he was a Jack Kirby creation (at least visually). And yes he is visually interesting and gives artists a lot of leeway for individual interpretations. But I cannot lie, it was his appearance in the Marvel movies that got me hooked.Social/Sharing |

Always dug this one, Harry! Love the exactness of the inks. You can tell Ryan spent some time on this, from conception all the way to final touches. Really a great Stegman AND Groot/Rocket example. Congrats!

No gatekeeping because Batman 89, X-Men animated, Iron man, Gotg and so on has made an impact to these characters and in our lives. To deny that as an entry point for anyone getting into these characters is just limiting your own understanding of reality of how far reaching their influence has been. It's the same people who always claim they like the band before they made it big. They get off on telling people they were there first, never to celebrate in the success because it has passed them by.

Move it, you overgrown ragweed, the reader's getting away! I am Groot...I love covers where the action is coming towards you. And Stegman's choice to blank out the framing foliage to make those central images pop is subtly clever. Agreed 100% on the character clicking for me because of the movie, too. Great score. Congrats!

Fabulous cover! Groot is a fav pre-code Kirby monster as well, and my introduction was from ads for the movies lol --- I haven't even seen the movies at this point, but I did go back and read reprints of some of the old comics. Love how Stegman weaves the ivy into the two advancing figures here, but there's no camouflaging his talent
