DescriptionSticking to the Black Condor. My last Black Condor piece. In 1992 Rags Morales co-created and penciled a revised Black Condor series for DC comics. I really liked the Black Condor series unfortunately the series only lasted 12 issues. He appeared in Justice League for a bit but that was about it. Fellow CAFer Greg McKee has a great collection of Black Condor art. I've always been envious of his pages. In 2020, a fellow on eBay was putting up early Rags Morales art for sale. It included unpublished and published pieces and Black Condor art. The second of two covers I bought. The first was Black Condor #2. Glad to finally have some Black Condor art and for them to be two great title splashes and two covers, is icing on the cake. I really dig the Morales art on this page. I love the choices Morales made to draw Black Condor long, lean and muscular (like a swimmer) perfect for a flying character. Love all the figures on the cover and the spotlight effect it on Black Condor, makes it shine. One of the better covers in the run. Another thing I like about this cover are the published colors. Usually that's not the case. 90's colors tend to be horrendous but I love the colors on this cover. Black Condor #5 by artist Rags Morales. On a 11X17 board. 1992 Social/Sharing |

Very dynamic action cover! Black Condor takes up most of the spotlight here and adding the brick wall wasn't really needed.

Congrats on this second cover, man! I love how he drew the henchmen, as they appear to be inexperienced, goofy teenagers in way over their heads! What I like about the published cover is that the brick wall appears to be computer generated, so it looks different from the colors on the people and makes them stand out. However, I think the spotlight effect only works well on the original art.

Archie and the gang just needed a few extra bucks to take the girls to the malt shop but this guy had to show up and ruin everything.
