DescriptionThe second of two Hepburn posts today, this one also chock full to overflowing with heaping piles of the crazy textures and unfettered energy Scott adds to his pages. For those into “birth pages”, Killer Thrill’s first appearance was on the page before this one, and she continues to burst onto the scene here (there’s really no other way to put it), literally breaking through the second panel into two others (and the right gutter besides). Narratively, it gives her a real kind of “multi-dimensional” or out-of-phase feel, underscoring the slim odds of Drax’s mighty left hook connecting with her here. Fun! I just love all the crazy, manic electricity zinging around on this one: it’s exactly the kind of scene you’d expect to find Drax neck-deep in the middle of. (And as an unexpected bonus, when I received the page, I was excited to see the unfinished pencil prelims for page 2 of this same issue - see additional image…) Social/Sharing |

I really dig the slanted panel layout here. Hepburn uses it to great effect with his cloean and clear storytelling ability and I also love that he made the 3rd panel overlap the 4th one, which under normal circumstances wouldn't work but because the 4th panel isn't actually outlined, it works perfectly. Again, really enjoy the storytelling and the energetic pacing! Great acquisition, I must say!

Dominates with tremendous speed and force shown once the action starts in panel 2!

You've convinced me - I need to head over to Cadence's site to see what art from Scott is still available. They should give you a commission if I buy anything.

I have a couple pages from this run as well. Hepburn is really underrated, I love his work. Congrats on the pick up!

Organized chaos, and I dig it! Frenetic stuff, yet still so deliberate. Hard to do, man, hard to do. Also LOVE the subtle panel breaks in spots - just adds to the power o' the page! Glad you're happy to have nabbed these, buddy. Congrats!
