Description

As the sun sets over church and town, the stars come out, and a young boy prepares to have some more fun, even though his previous fun appears to have left him wounded in thumb and forehead. The piece is 17x15 inches.

I can't find much online about William H. Townley (1885-1956). Optimistic images like this could have been paired with a wide variety of advertising content, not necessarily anything related to Independence Day celebrations. I can easily imagine it on a calendar for the month of July.

A spirited piece for the 4th! Has the old school advertising art feel, sure beats the Fireworks flyers/pamplets the local vendors around me are using to move product this year.

Pretty fun piece with the L'il Rascal scamp look! Kids getting anything to play with during the depression era is pretty lucky. You get either fireworks or the stick and hoop.
