Opening emails in a timely manor pays off. Jorge's reps in Spain have eared a lot of my business but I absolutely couldn't believe that another, different sketch cover sold in front of this one nor that I had the good fortune to score this purchase. Year One is my favorite version of Batman and this spot-on tribute to David Mazzucchelli has become almost ubiquitous unto itself since Jorge shared the image on his socials. The art doesn't stop on the front cover, by the way – it wraps around.

This is one of those purchases that has completely changed my collecting habits. I have a half dozen commissions currently in place with a few artists for sketch variants and even designed my own slab labels for them.

One of the great things about collecting is the endless potential for surprises, and I'm letting this one go, so don't hesitate!

This is timeless Mazzuchelli imagery by Fornes who confidently applies the deep rich ink strokes.
