DescriptionSpirited Away by Arthur Adams.Deleter A4 paper soaked in English breakfast tea. Sepia ink. Cosco pen. Saw Arthur at East Bay Comic Con in Concord, but deferred. Saw some commissions picked up at San Francisco Comic Art Con and determined the price and opportunity was worthwhile. I was thinking over my request over lunch when my friend John suggested my Miyazaki theme as Arthur is well known as a Japanophile. Two weeks later at Sac-Con in Sacramento, he presented this piece to me. Arthur said he wasn’t sure it was recognizable as a Miyazaki, but his daughter walked into his studio and recognized it right off. Arthur really went farther than anyone could expect. He should have used green tea, but otherwise perfect high effort Arthur Adams!

Great choice (and a welcome departure from the usual big two characters) and fun execution by Adams.

Isn't this splendid. Wonderful result and something different from Adams. Big congrats!

First of all, you should get extra point just for not asking for yet another Wolverine piece (or any other X character for that matter). While Arthur certainly understands the need to pay the bills with those characters, I really do think he has much more fun with these unusual requests. You can see that in the drawing. I'm sure he appreciates that breath of fresh air (before he has to go back and drawn the next Wolverine, LOL). Congratulations on an amazing piece Steven!

Seems like Art got a bit carried away with this one. Great addition to the collection, Steven.

Adams blending his style with Miyazaki's makes for a great reimagining of this scene. Cheers!

So much energy in this piece, it just explodes off the page! Congrats on scoring an always elusive Adams commission!
