Description

Everybody here collects comics -- but how many of us have an old pic of us with our comics back when we were young?? My dad took this pic in 1963 after he had built a bookshelf into the wall in my bedroom where there used to be a door -- and he just happened to photograph MY COMIC COLLECTION on those bookshelves!! I was 12-13 in 1963, and buying all those great comics that came out back in 1960, etc... So, what happened to those comics? Two years later in 1965 our family moved from Southern California up to the San Francisco Bay Area, and since my dad was stressed out with having to load up the moving van, he told me that THE COMICS WERE NOT COMING ALONG... I gave 500 to a hospital, and sold 500 to a used bookstore for a penny a piece (they sold them for a nickel)... AAARRRGGGGGGGG... and he made me trash my Mac Raboy FLASH GORDON collection, I can still see myself in tears walking into the back yard and tossing them into our trash can... After the move I obviously began collecting again, and 6 years later I would go to work for Bud Plant's Berkeley Comic Shop where I could totally surround myself with nearly every comic ever published! And I re-collected the Raboy FG's! Ah, the memories... and a neat old pic!!
