DescriptionI’ve been looking for some time for a nice Finlay. This one isn’t as abstract or starry as many, but the line rendering is so exact and delicate and emotive in my opinion. This piece was published as an illustration for Cordwainer Smith’s story, “On the Storm Planet,” from Galaxy Magazine #3 in 1965. The story, part of the larger work “Quest of The Three Worlds,” was supposedly nominated for (but did not win) Best Novella of that year. Thanks to Bechara and Hans! Social/Sharing |

An all time great with the labor and time consuming style that always bring awe and inspiration in the audience.

At first glance, I thought this was Rachel from Blade Runner. Exceptional!

A fine example of Finlay's supernaturally deft draftsmanship, and a deal at twice the price! Congrats on a wonderful pick up!

The turtle is kind of random, but it works! Nice addition to your tasteful collection Mark!

Alright, Gents, I have an answer. I read Cordwainer Smith's novella On the Storm Planet, a place where whales fly and coral grows in the air and hurricanes and tornadoes are daily occurences; also a place ruled by a one thousand year-old child named T'ruth who was once a turtle but who was turned into a human being. You may sleep at night now.
