DescriptionFor whatever reason, Bernie found this scene to be superfluous, even though he put an amazing amount of effort into its execution. See comments for possible explanation of Bernie's reluctance to include this piece in the final edit.Social/Sharing |

I read a bit of explantion as to why it was not used. Apparently when he showed it to people, many turned it upside down to view it, confused, presumably by the amount of space taken up by the reflection. I consider it an unwise decision. Its as good as any illustration in the book..

This is spectacular! (Wouldn't mind a larger scan...) I read the same anecdote about people turning it over when he showed it to them, but then I thought, so what...if I managed to draw something like this, I'd publish it and they can flip the book around if they want. It's an awesome drawing

Performs beyond expectations and would have been a worthy addition as you do see a lot of Wrightson and what he put into it..

This should have been in the book. It's an amazing piece.

I think there were 6 or more very fine plates (?) that never made it into the final book even though they would have made more than worthy additions. There was a small book called The Lost Frankenstein Pages by Apple Press which printed those. I would dearly love to see a complete folio size edition with everything in it at last. This is a really gorgeous piece and yes, it reminds me of Monet too.
